Summer Divorce in The Hampton's

Every since the drama of the Christie Brinkley trial concluded, Long Island's poster child for women wronged has become more popular than ever. Christie at age 50 plus can be seen adorning the cover of many glamor magazines and is literally the toast of the town out here in neverland. The Hampton's never believed for a moment that it was Christie who turned the divorce in the media event of the year. Christie is just a victim in their eyes and she is now more famous than ever. Role model for every woman who has ever been cheated upon, Christie made everyone believe that it was her skunk husband who proliferated the litigation and not she. The truth lies somewhere in between in that while it was true that the custody trial was really just a legal maneuver to force a settlement by Peter Cook, the fact that settlement took so long to occur can squarely be placed on Christie's desire to publicly destroy her cheating man. As a woman who can blame her. As an attorney she probably walked a very tight rope in settling so close to the presentation of Cook's case. There are always skeletons in the closet and in all likelihood Ms. Brinkley had her share. None of which would have helped to enhance her celebrity.
Litigating just enough for just long enough however has succeeded in catapulting her right into the mix of polite society here in the East and increasing her already overflowing coffers of cash. That's OK, she needs to pay off the ex husband....good riddance. Good job Christie.
