The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to move into Diana's former home

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are set to make Kensington Palace, the former home of Princess Diana their official London residence. St James's palace stated the couple will have a small apartment at the palace. They are expected to move in soon in preparation of their Canadian tour. There has been much speculation regarding the location of their official residence. Kensington Palace is only a temporary solution because they will need more room when they have a family or wish to have guests over. The Palace is currently home to a number of other royals.  
St James's palace today confirmed 'The couple's official London residence will temporarily become a property at Kensington Palace. A number of options for long term solutions are still being considered. The couple's main home will continue to be their house in Anglesey. The property in question in Kensington Palace where the couple are moving is small. While the Duke and Duchess are very grateful more options are being considered although no suitable property is currently available'. William and Kate shared Prince Harry's quarters at Clarence house in the run up to the wedding. It has been reported that the Queen offered William and Kate an apartment at Buckingham Palace but they declined. Kensington Palace has special memories for William. After Charles and Diana divorced Diana lived there. William and Harry attended the nearby school and Diana brought them to the local shops in the hopes of them enjoying a normal childhood. Diana's apartments are currently used as office space. I think it is poignant to see William and Kate making Diana's old residence their first official family home. It may also be easier for Kate to adjust to royal life there as opposed to Buckingham Palace. I expect we shall see them relocate to somewhere such as Clarence House when they start a family.
